What to know

A winter trip starts with good snow and a good plan.

For winter 2026–27, Memories plans to begin snowmobile operations in December when sufficient snow and open trails allow. Michigan's state-designated snowmobile trail season runs December 1 through March 31; that calendar does not guarantee daily riding conditions or rental availability.

Select a live booking date and read the full listing before checkout. Your confirmation identifies the meeting location, arrival time, required documents, gear details, and cancellation terms for the experience you chose.

Not seeing winter dates yet? Call 833-3MEMORY with your preferred dates and group size. Snow, trail closures, or unsafe conditions can change the schedule.

Staying in Traverse City, Acme or Williamsburg?

Turn a winter stay into a trail day with a Memories snowmobile tour or rental. For resort-area bookings, follow the Grand Traverse Resort check-in and coordinated approved-trailhead instructions in your confirmation. You do not need to guess a trailhead from an old map or address.

  • Tell us where you are staying when you ask about a ride
  • Confirm whether your selected booking uses the resort check-in
  • Allow time for travel, waivers, orientation, and gear fitting

Kalkaska, Fife Lake & Lake City winter rides

These inland communities are useful bases and trail regions for a Northern Michigan winter trip. Available routes depend on snow cover, grooming, permitted access, your starting point, and rental duration. Ask our team which option makes sense from your lodging before you reserve.

  • Plan around the conditions on the day, not a fixed mileage promise
  • Use current signed routes and the guidance given at check-in
  • Your booking confirms the actual pickup and return location

What to wear and bring

Prepare for time outdoors and the wind while riding. Bring warm layers, snow pants or a winter outer layer, insulated waterproof boots, warm gloves, and the documents named in your booking. Ask which helmet and other gear are included with your selected experience.

  • Bring your required driver's license and booking confirmation
  • Complete each participant's required waiver
  • Check passenger eligibility and clothing needs before arrival

Riding with a passenger or planning a group?

Tell us the number of drivers and passengers, their ages, and everyone's riding experience. Choose the available machine capacity in the live listing. Driver requirements, passenger fit, and equipment need to work for the exact experience; a group size alone does not determine how many sleds to reserve.

  • Check two-person options if you want to ride together
  • Ask about offered start times for a group
  • Call before checkout if anyone's eligibility is unclear

Weather changes and your reservation

Early winter, thaws, and fresh storms can change the riding plan. Review the cancellation policy shown for your booking and watch for messages from Memories before departure. If the weather becomes uncertain, contact the team for the current operating plan.

  • Use the live calendar for bookable dates and current prices
  • Check official trail reports and closures before travel
  • Follow the confirmed meeting and return instructions

Good to know

Questions before you go.

Contact Memories
When does the 2026–27 snowmobile season begin?

Memories plans winter operations from December, subject to sufficient snow and open trails. Michigan's state-designated trail season runs December 1 through March 31, but the actual operating dates depend on conditions and live availability.

Do you offer guided snowmobile tours near Traverse City?

Yes. Memories offers guided winter experiences as well as self-guided snowmobile rentals when conditions allow. Open the snowmobile booking collection and select the guided tour listing for available dates, duration, and requirements.

Is a guided tour a good choice for a first-time visitor?

A guided tour provides a local route plan and group pace. Tell the team your riding experience and check the selected tour's driver and passenger requirements before booking.

Can two people ride together?

Check the snowmobile listing for an available two-person option and passenger requirements. Capacity and passenger eligibility must be confirmed for the exact machine and experience.

Where do we meet for our snowmobile rental or tour?

Use the activity-specific meeting point in your booking confirmation. Resort-area bookings may use Grand Traverse Resort check-in with a coordinated approved-trailhead transfer. Kalkaska, Fife Lake, and Lake City describe wider trail regions, not a guaranteed pickup point for every booking.

Are helmets and winter clothes included?

Review the selected listing for helmet and equipment inclusions. Bring warm layers, winter outerwear, insulated boots, and gloves unless the listing specifically states they are supplied. Call if you need help with gear or sizing.

What happens if there is not enough snow?

Memories may adjust operations for snow, trail, or safety conditions. Review the cancellation terms for your reservation and contact the team for the current plan before traveling.

Can I book if my winter date is not shown?

Call 833-3MEMORY with your preferred date, lodging area, number of drivers and passengers, and whether you want a guide. The team can check options; dates not shown in the calendar are not confirmed as available.
